Description:
A Store Manager is needed to join a friendly, welcoming and hardworking team based in the centre of York. This is a long-standing, family run Retail company who have numerous stores and are still opening more stores to date.
Managing the efficient and effective day-to-day running of the store to achieve customer expectations, maximise sales and ensure long-term profits. Displaying creative and committed leadership within the constraints of the Company’s policy framework.

There are 5 key areas of duties which are not limited to but include:
People
Manage a team of around 25 employees
Recruitment, training, reviewing, deployment, development and promotion of employees
Health and Welfare of employees and customers
Handling of Customer complaints and refunds
Health & Safety, and accident procedures
Sales & Stock
Store layout, Pricing and ticketing
Advertising and display, and Promotion planning
Ordering stock from Group Warehouses and representatives. Liaison with branch staff, buyers and Group Warehouses to ensure that departments are kept adequately stocked with a competitive range of merchandise
Stocktaking
Operations
Maintenance of proper records of stock movements
Organising delivery rota
Cleanliness of floors, windows, fixtures, etc.
Ensuring that scheduled and emergency maintenance is done, reporting of issues
Alarm and security systems, security of premises - store opening and closing
Shrinkage controls
Attend any emergency call-out as required
Use of the telephone systems
Finance
Use of tills including cashing up
Acceptance of all payment methods
Invoices are processed correctly
Marking down merchandise
Legal & Compliance
Have an understanding of trading, employment, health and safety and any other legislation affecting the business
Ensure that the store complies with all such legislationThis is a permanent position working 38.75 hours per week, 5 days over 7, between the hours of 8:30am-5:30pm, earning a salary of £28,000
