About Us

We are the largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for older people in England. We manage 60,000 homes for people in later life across almost 1,700 sites and operate in over 85% of local councils in England. Helping people enjoy later life is our passion. It has been for nearly 60 years. And today, in an ageing society, our housing, care and support is needed more than ever.

As England’s largest provider of specialist housing and care for those in later life, we’re committed to creating choice and opportunity for everyone. We put our residents at the heart of everything we do, listening carefully and shaping our homes and services around them.

And we’re proudly not-for-profit, which means every penny we make is reinvested into our properties and services, building more and innovating for the future so that people can have a home where they love living in later life.

The Role

As a Stock Condition Surveyor you'll conduct accurate stock condition surveys against set criteria, including the Decent Homes Standard (DHS) and the Housing Health Safety Rating System (HHSRS), in alignment with internal standards.

Responsibilities also include:

* Planning future investments based on historical surveys, repairs, maintenance works, and improvement projects.

* Supporting Asset Evaluation Surveyors in developing planned investment programs and strategic decision-making.

* Attending operations and resident meetings to explain proposed investment decisions and address concerns.

* Liaising with colleagues to relay property condition information, identify recurring problems, and facilitate collaborative maintenance efforts.

* Assisting in preparing statistics, reports, and other relevant information as required.

About You

To be successful in this role we'd like you to have/be;

* HND / HNC or equivalent in Building or Construction (essential)

* Working towards MRICS or MCIOB status (desirable)

* A backgound in building/building services/retirement housing would be an advantage.

* Understanding of the differences between care homes, rented housing, and homeownership estates, and their respective customer expectations.

* Strong data handling and analysis skills.

* Proven ability to work effectively with stakeholders on projects.

* Problem-solving skills and the ability to assess investment proposals to achieve positive outcomes.

* Excellent planning, prioritisation, and deadline management abilities.

* Outstanding communication skills.

* It would be great if you live within the East Sussex or Surrey region
