Job Title: Steel Works Workshop Fabricator

Location: Feltham, TW14

Job Type: Full time 

Job Summary: The Steel Works Workshop Fabricator is responsible for the preparation, fabrication, and assembly of steel components and structures. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, and the ability to work from technical drawings and blueprints. The fabricator must ensure all work meets the specified standards and is completed safely, efficiently, and within set timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Fabrication and Assembly:

Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

Measure, cut, shape, and weld steel components to precise specifications.

Assemble fabricated steel parts to build industrial structures, frames, and other steel products.

Perform various metal forming and bending operations as required.

Welding and Cutting:

Operate welding equipment (MIG, TIG, and stick welding) to join steel parts.

Use oxy-fuel cutting equipment and plasma cutters for cutting steel components.

Ensure all welds meet quality standards and specifications.

Machining and Finishing:

Use machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to fabricate steel components.

Perform finishing tasks such as grinding, sanding, and polishing to achieve the desired surface quality.

Inspect and verify the quality of finished products.

Quality Control:

Conduct inspections to ensure fabricated parts meet dimensional accuracy and quality standards.

Identify and rectify any defects or deviations from specifications.

Maintain accurate records of work performed and quality checks.

Safety and Maintenance:

Adhere to all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of workshop equipment and tools.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work collaboratively with other team members, including engineers, designers, and other fabricators.

Communicate effectively with supervisors and report progress, issues, and any required changes.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in steel fabrication is preferred.

Certification in welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welder) is advantageous.

Proven experience as a steel fabricator or in a similar role.

Proficiency in welding techniques (MIG, TIG, stick) and metal cutting methods.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

Strong understanding of metallurgy and material properties related to steel.

Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, as well as machining equipment.

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Good physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy materials.

Work Environment:

The role is primarily based in a workshop environment.

Exposure to loud noises, heat, and potential hazards; adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.

May involve standing for long periods and performing physically demanding tasks
