Station Operations Manager – Bristol Airport

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Work Schedule: 4 on / 4 off or flexible operational pattern, including days, nights and weekends as required

Our client, a leading provider of airport operational and support services, is seeking an experienced and driven Station Operations Manager to lead and oversee operations at Bristol Airport. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced, safety-critical aviation environment and play a key role in delivering high standards of operational performance and customer service.

About the Role

The Station Operations Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the airport operation, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with contractual and operational requirements.

Leading a team of Duty Managers, Supervisors and frontline operational staff, the successful candidate will drive performance, maintain compliance, and ensure excellent service delivery across all operational activities.

This role requires a strong operational leader who is comfortable working within a highly regulated, time-critical environment and engaging with airport stakeholders, airline customers and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

Lead the daily delivery of station operations across Bristol Airport

Ensure operational activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with SLA and KPI requirements

Act as the senior operational escalation point for service delivery and operational issues

Monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions where required

Support business continuity and operational resilience within a live airport environment

Health & Safety & Compliance

Promote and maintain a strong health & safety culture across the operation

Ensure full compliance with airport regulations, company procedures and relevant legislation

Conduct operational audits, inspections and performance reviews

Ensure all staff maintain mandatory training and compliance requirements

Team Management & Development

Lead, motivate and develop operational teams to achieve high performance standards

Support recruitment, onboarding, training and succession planning activities

Conduct regular team briefings, performance reviews and operational meetings

Foster a positive culture focused on accountability, engagement and continuous improvement

Customer & Stakeholder Management

Build strong working relationships with airport authorities, airline customers and operational stakeholders

Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and professional service delivery

Attend operational meetings and represent the business within the airport community

Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and service standards

Financial & Commercial Oversight

Support effective labour planning and resource allocation

Monitor operational costs and support delivery against budget expectations

Ensure efficient deployment of teams in line with operational demand

Key Requirements

Minimum three years’ experience in an operational leadership or management role

Aviation experience is highly desirable, although transferable experience from logistics, facilities management, transport, ground handling or other fast-paced operational environments will also be considered

Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills

Experience managing teams within a 24/7 operational environment

Good understanding of health & safety and operational compliance requirements

Ability to work under pressure and manage changing operational priorities

Competent IT skills and experience producing operational reports

Full UK driving licence required
