An established precision spring and wire form manufacturer based in Tipton is seeking an experienced Spring Machine Setter / Operator to join their dedicated production team.

This role offers an exceptional work-life balance with a 4-day working schedule, giving you every Friday off while maintaining a core daytime shift structure. * Tooling & Tool Selection: Select, install, and align correct tooling, cams, feeds, and guides for specific production runs.

* Quality & First-Off Inspection: Conduct first-off inspections and routine quality checks using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, vernier calipers, shadowgraphs, load testers).

* Troubleshooting: Diagnose process faults, coil spring defects, and mechanical issues during production runs, adjusting machine settings accordingly.

* Material Management: Work with carbon spring steel, stainless steel, and specialty alloys; inspect raw wire stock for gauge and quality consistency.

* Continuous Improvement & Maintenance: Perform basic routine machine maintenance, keep work areas clean and safe (5S standards), and suggest process improvements to reduce scrap and setup times.

Required Experience & Skills

* Proven track record as a Spring Machine Setter, Coiler Operator, or Wire Forming Setter within precision engineering or manufacturing.

* Hands-on experience setting and operating automatic or CNC spring coiling / wire forming machines (e.g., Wafios, Bennett, ITAYA, or mechanical/cam-driven spring machines).

* Ability to read and accurately interpret technical engineering drawings, manufacturing specifications, and tolerances.

* Proficient in using manual measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, load gauges).

* Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality control.

Personal Attributes

* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a close-knit shop-floor team.

* Strong problem-solving mindset for machine troubleshooting and tooling adjustments.

* Excellent punctuality and reliable work ethic.

Package & Benefits

* Salary: £15.50 - £18.50 per hour

* Hours: 32 hours per week (Mon–Thu, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM).

* Weekend: 3-day weekend every week.
