We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Sports Teaching Assistant to join our team and help us continue our mission of fostering physical, emotional, and social development in our students.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the delivery of engaging and inclusive sports and physical education lessons tailored to the needs of students with SEMH challenges or challenging behavior.
Assist in planning and organizing sports activities, ensuring they are accessible and enjoyable for all students.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students during sports activities, helping them to stay focused and engaged.
Implement behavior management strategies to support students’ emotional and social development during physical activities.
Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere that promotes teamwork, confidence, and a love of sports.
Collaborate with teachers and SEN specialists to ensure holistic support for each child.
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the lead teacher.
Key Skills and Requirements:
Experience working with children with SEMH needs or challenging behavior is highly desirable.
A passion for sports and physical education.
Strong understanding of behavior management strategies and the ability to adapt activities accordingly.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards overcoming challenges.
Ability to inspire and motivate students with diverse needs and backgrounds.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Relevant qualifications in sports coaching or physical education are desirable but not essential.
