Engage Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream school in the Wirral, which is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant to join its team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for sport, physical education and supporting young people. Whether you have experience coaching sports, working in schools or supporting children in other settings, this role offers the chance to make a real difference both inside and outside the classroom.
About the Role
As a Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils throughout the school day by promoting engagement, confidence and positive behaviour. You will work closely with teachers to deliver high-quality learning support, while also leading or assisting with PE lessons, intervention groups and extracurricular sports activities.
Responsibilities include:
* Supporting pupils in lessons on a one-to-one basis, in small groups and across whole-class activities
* Delivering or assisting with PE lessons and sports sessions
* Encouraging positive behaviour and helping pupils remain engaged in learning
* Supporting students with a range of learning needs and abilities
* Helping to develop pupils' confidence, teamwork and resilience through sport
* Assisting with playground duties, extracurricular clubs and school sporting events where required
* Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff to provide the best outcomes for pupils
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
* Has experience coaching sports or working with children and young people
* Holds a recognised sports coaching qualification or has relevant coaching experience (desirable but not essential)
* Is energetic, reliable and passionate about inspiring young people
* Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* Can motivate pupils and act as a positive role model
* Is adaptable and able to support learning across different subjects when required
* Holds an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to apply for one
