Speech & Language Teaching Assistant

Middlesbrough | Full or Part-Time | September Start | Secondary

Protocol Education are currently recruiting for a Speech & Language Teaching Assistant to support students within a secondary school in Middlesbrough from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with an interest in speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). The successful candidate will provide targeted support to secondary-aged students, working on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to help students develop their communication skills, confidence and independence.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged students
Support students with speech, language and communication needs
Help students develop their communication, confidence and social skills
Deliver or support targeted interventions as directed by teaching staff or specialists
Adapt support to meet individual students' needs
Encourage students to engage positively with learning
Work closely with teachers, SENCO and other support staff
Monitor and provide feedback on student progress
Promote independence and positive behaviour

The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable
Experience with speech, language or communication needs would be advantageous
Patient, empathetic and able to build strong relationships with students
Confident supporting both 1:1 and small-group activities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable, proactive and adaptable
A genuine commitment to supporting students with additional needs
Location: Middlesbrough
Start Date: September
⏰ Hours: Full or Part-Time considered

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
