Specialist SEND Tutor - Wigan
Location: Wigan, Greater Manchester
Hours: 5-15 hours per week
Start Date: October 2026
Duration: Ongoing
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Specialist SEND Tutor to deliver personalised 1:1 tuition to learners across Wigan. This role is ideal for an experienced educator who can support pupils with complex needs, build positive relationships and help learners re-engage with education.
The Role:
Deliver individualised tuition tailored to each learners needs and abilities.
Support pupils with SEND, complex needs and barriers to learning.
Adapt teaching strategies and resources to encourage engagement.
Develop learners confidence, independence and academic skills.
Set achievable targets and monitor progress.
Provide feedback on learning outcomes and ongoing support needs.
Experience, Training and Qualifications
QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
Experience working with students with complex needs.
Experience supporting SEND or disengaged pupils.
UK classroom teaching experience.
A creative, patient approach and willingness to think outside the box.
To be eligible for this role, the Specialist SEND Tutor must:
Hold the right to work in the UK.
Hold an enhanced DBS including the child barred list, ideally on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain the required clearance.
Provide two professional references, including relevant child-related references.
