Salary: £83 - £100 per day

GSL Education are seeking compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistants tomake a positive impact on students' lives by joining an Ofsted rated “Good” School in York, North Yorkshire, starting in September 2024.

About the School:

With an emphasis on SEN children, this school provides dedicated education for young people aged from 11 – 19 years old.
Every student at the school has a learning disability, with many also accessing physical or sensory provisions.
Ensuring the safety of all members of the school community is their top priority, and they collaborate closely with partners around the region in this regard.
The school's comprehensive curriculum provides teachers with a list of options of accessible and relevant topics to help students develop what is relevant to them and their identified EHCP broad areas of need.
The curriculum at the school has been created after four years of intensive research into SEND as well as visits, research, and interactions with exceptional settings.
Their mission is to enhance the educational, social, and emotional development of our students, ensuring they achieve their full potential.
Special Needs Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

Under the expert guidance and supervision of a specialist teacher, you will conduct learning activities differentiating and tailoring curricula to meet the needs of assigned students with special needs.
In collaboration with teachers, create and assess specialised learning activities, and if needed, prepare reports and records.
Work with students on care or therapy plans that are created and overseen by a care specialist or therapist.
Encourage students to collaborate and communicate with one another and involve every student in activities.
Participate in creating, organising, and carrying out students' individual development plans which may include scheduling, attending, and contributing to evaluations.
Special Needs Teaching Assistant Requirements:

Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
Relevant qualifications in Education or SEN support (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
Training in behaviour management and de-escalation techniques is desirable.
Experience working with children who have a variety of disabilities and/or learning difficulties, or an eagerness to go through training.
Be aware of and knowledgeable about different additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD and SEMH.
Confident in the delivery of pre-planned lessons and interventions.
Hold a Child only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
