Special Education Teacher (Secondary SEMH/SEND)
Location: Loughborough
Pay: £190–£240 per day (DOE)
Duration: Full-time | Long-term | Temp-to-Perm Opportunities
Start: Immediate, or September starts available
Luma Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and resilient Special Education Teacher to join a specialist secondary setting supporting pupils aged 11–16 with a range of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and Special Educational Needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes through a nurturing, structured and therapeutic approach.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEMH and SEND
* Create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment where pupils can thrive academically and emotionally
* Support the development of pupils' confidence, independence, emotional regulation and social skills
* Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, pastoral teams and senior leaders
* Monitor progress, adapt learning strategies and contribute to EHCP targets and reviews
* Promote positive behaviour through consistent, trauma-informed practice
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
* Experience teaching pupils with SEMH, SEND, Autism, ADHD or associated needs
* Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
* A patient, adaptable and resilient approach to teaching
* Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service) or willingness to obtain one
