Job Description: Sous Chef

We are recruiting on behalf of a unique, award-winning country Inn that is known for its exceptional culinary offerings and vibrant events, including opera nights and gala dinners. This full-time role is split over four days per week. Please note, there is no accommodation available with this role.

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join the culinary team of our client. As a Sous Chef, you will assist the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality dishes. If you have a passion for cooking, excellent leadership skills, and a strong culinary background, we would love to hear from you.

Duties:

Assist the Head Chef in menu planning and recipe development.
Prepare and cook food according to established recipes and standards.
Ensure food quality and presentation meet the highest standards.
Supervise and train kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and proper use of equipment.
Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area.
Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth operations.

Experience:

Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, flavor profiles, and food presentation.
Excellent understanding of kitchen operations and procedures.
Proficient in using various cooking equipment and tools.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.

Skills:

Cook: Proficient in preparing a variety of dishes with different cooking techniques.
Hospitality: Provide excellent customer service and create a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
Food Preparation: Skilled in preparing ingredients, following recipes, and ensuring proper portioning.
Restaurant Operations: Familiarity with restaurant operations, including inventory management, cost control, and menu planning.
Food Safety: Knowledgeable about food safety regulations and practices to maintain a safe kitchen environment.
Team Management: Ability to lead, train, and supervise kitchen staff effectively.
Leadership: Demonstrate strong leadership skills by making decisions, delegating tasks, and resolving conflicts.
Culinary: Possess a deep understanding of culinary techniques, flavor combinations, and food presentation.
Kitchen Operations: Proficient in using various kitchen equipment and tools to execute recipes and maintain efficiency.
