We are now looking for an experienced senior solution architect to join our team based in the UK as part of our wider Digital Applications Transformation capability.

You'll share the responsibility for the digital transformation of an organisation
You'll have a vision for services and communicate this to developers and non-developers alike.
You'll ensure a project's overall technical design meets user needs and acceptance criteria, whilst conforming to time and budget constraints.
You'll thrive using agile methods and enjoy working collaboratively with business units and multidisciplinary teams.
You'll have experience in working on a roadmap of strategic change which will transform the IT Landscape moving towards modern digital interfaces, microservice architectures, API enabled systems, automation, platform as a service, and agile DevOps process
The initial assignment will include the transformation of mainframe services to a modernized architecture. Over time the candidate would work on a range of varying assignments from a wide portfolio of government and commercial clients. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Understand business requirements, business process models, data models and non-functional requirements in order to produce high quality enterprise and solution architecture artefacts, defining best practice, microservice oriented and innovative solution designs that will be key to delivering the portfolio

You will work collaboratively with other Architects, Project and Programme Managers, Product Managers, Business Analysts / SMEs, Lead Developers and partners.
Design technical services or plan system integration, selecting necessary platforms and technologies to meet project requirements and user needs, ensuring that the key artefacts are produced to facilitate development.
Provide technical leadership and consultancy to both internal and external development teams, ensuring that the services delivered meet the requirements (Quality and Value) whilst meeting time and budget constraints
Build and maintain technical roadmaps, looking ahead for future opportunities or blockers and ensuring decisions by development teams align with the strategy
Encourage communication across multiple development teams to identify strategic requirements and dependencies, ensuring that key dependencies and risks are managed.
Help develop services by contributing code, testing technologies and producing rapid prototypes
Be involved in the wider web development community, identifying good practices to adopt and sharing your experiences,
Enable a positive technical culture, applying agile methods to development and completing quality assurance practices
Mentor developers, setting standards and ensuring delivery targets are met
Advise product managers on the estimated effort and technical implications of current user stories, as well as those in the backlog
Form collaborative relationships with external suppliers and partners
Help enable the reuse of patterns, tools, and components across the whole service landscape Essential Skills/Qualifications:

Experience in transformation of existing mainframe architectures and applications into modernized microservice architectures.
Extensive experience in mainframe architecture, transaction framework, security frameworks and tools including database platforms
Experience in defining high quality Solution Architecture designs, and gaining approval for such designs in a complex stakeholder environment
Experience leading technical teams and delivering user-focused services
Strong software development and application architecture experience, with good knowledge of open source technologies, testing and at least one programming language
Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies
Experience scaling online services
Awareness of emerging security issues
Understanding of how to prioritise work in a fast, customer-centric environment
Understanding of agile environments, continual delivery techniques and dev-ops cultures
