Contract QA/QC Solar Engineer  Utility Scale (Midlands)

Contract Length

12 Months

Day Rate

Competitive DOE

Overview

We are supporting a leading renewable energy Developer delivering utility-scale solar PV projects across the UK and are seeking an experienced QA/QC Engineer for a live project in the Midlands.

This is a site-based quality role covering both civil and electrical works, ensuring full compliance from construction through to commissioning and handover.

This role sits at the interface between delivery and client — so beyond technical QA, we are looking for someone who understands what it means to operate on behalf of a developer or asset owner, not just an EPC contractor.

What you’ll be doing

Leading QA/QC activities across a utility-scale solar site (30MW+)
Managing quality inspections across:
Civils (earthworks, piling, cable routes, structures)
Electrical (DC/AC installation, inverters, cabling, containment)
Ensuring works are delivered strictly in line with drawings, specs, and ITPs
Managing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and QA documentation packs
Raising, tracking, and closing NCRs and ensuring corrective actions are implemented
Conducting snagging and punch list inspections throughout construction phases
Supporting commissioning readiness and handover preparation
Ensuring full traceability of materials, installation records, and test results
Working closely with Site Managers, Engineers, and subcontractors to resolve issues quickly
Acting as a key interface between site delivery teams and the client/asset owner

What we’re looking for

Proven QA/QC experience on utility-scale solar PV projects
Strong understanding of both civil and electrical construction quality processes
Experience working in EPC or principal contractor environments
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specs, and QA documentation
Strong experience with ITPs, NCRs, and quality assurance systems

Strong Advantage (Highly Desirable)

Experience working directly with or reporting into a developer / asset owner
Comfortable in client-facing roles on live projects
Understanding of how developers assess:
quality compliance
build assurance
long-term asset risk
Experience attending client meetings, inspections, or witness testingCandidates who have only worked purely EPC-side are still considered, but those with developer/owner-facing exposure will stand out significantly

Additional Desirable Experience

Solar farm or BESS project experience
CSCS card (essential)
SMSTS or IOSH
HNC/HND or equivalent engineering background
Exposure to HV / grid-connected projects
NEC contract awareness

Contract Details

12–24 month duration
Midlands-based utility-scale solar project
Outside IR35 (project dependent)
Immediate / short notice preferred
Strong pipeline of UK solar & BESS work
