Description:

Solar PV / Renewable Technologies Electrician

Renewable Technologies Electrician – Solar PV

£50,000 – £55,000 + Electric Van + Private Healthcare + Excellent Benefits
London & South East – Mobile

Due to major contract growth, we are recruiting experienced Electricians with Solar PV experience for a leading renewable technologies business.

The company has recently secured 48 housing association contracts, including major social-housing providers, and requires additional engineers to support its growing service and maintenance operation.

The majority of your work will be across London, Greater London and inside the M25, with additional work throughout the Home Counties and wider South East. Engineers can therefore be based throughout London, Kent, Essex, Surrey, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and surrounding areas, with work allocated as locally as possible.

This is not simply an installation position.

The company particularly wants electricians who are strong at diagnostics, testing, fault finding and reactive repairs on Solar PV systems.

Typical work will include:

Solar PV service and maintenance
PV string testing
Diagnosing connection faults
Inverter fault diagnosis
Investigating inverter fault codes
Testing and inspecting PV systems
Identifying thermal damage
Diagnosing damaged or defective cabling
Electrical repairs and remedial works
Testing system performance
Completing service and compliance documentation
Reactive repairs on occupied residential properties

Essential qualifications/experience

You should have:

JIB/ECS Gold Card
Recognised Level 3 electrical qualification
18th Edition
Full UK driving licence
Genuine Solar PV / photovoltaic experience
Strong electrical fault-finding ability
Because of forthcoming industry changes, candidates with a recognised Level 3 Solar PV qualification are particularly attractive. Candidates must have qualifications that enable them to remain compliant with the developing Solar PV competence requirements taking effect from October 2026.

Experience with any of the following would also be useful:

Battery storage / EESS
Hybrid inverters
EV charging
Renewable heating
Domestic/social-housing electrical maintenance
Inspection and testing
Solar PV commissioning

Package

£50,000 – £55,000

Plus:

Electric company van, available for private use
Charging card
Private healthcare
PDA
Mobile phone
Tablet
25 days holiday + bank holidays
Birthday off
1-in-6 call-out
£200 standby payment for the call-out week
Time-and-a-half for call-outs
Door-to-door payment whilst called out
Additional paid travel under the company's normal travel policy
This would particularly suit an experienced electrician who enjoys fault finding and problem solving rather than spending every day carrying out straightforward installations.
