Description:
Software Test Engineer (Simulation / Systems)
Based in Stevenage
Salary from £42,000 – £50,000 + bonus + overtime + pension + flexi-leave
Not all test roles are created equal.
This one sits at the centre of real systems, simulation, and cutting-edge defence technology, where what you test actually matters.
You’ll be working inside a highly advanced digital battlespace environment, integrating and testing complex software that simulates real-world weapon systems. It’s hands-on, fast-moving, and gives you exposure across the full lifecycle, not just a small slice of it.
You’ll plan, run, and analyse software testing activities, investigate issues, and work closely with engineers, partners, and end users to ensure systems perform when it counts.
If you enjoy understanding how systems really behave, not just whether they pass or fail, you’ll fit in well here.
What you’ll bring:
*
Experience in software or systems testing, ideally within complex environments
*
Python scripting for analysis, automation, or tooling
*
Understanding of verification & validation, systems proving, or similar
*
Exposure to Agile, CI/CD, or modern development environments
*
ISTQB: Software testing certifications
What you’ll get:
*
Real variety, from rapid projects to long-term programmes
*
End-to-end involvement, from concept through to certification
*
A technically strong environment where testing is taken seriously
*
Flexible working, strong pension, bonus, and additional leave
You must hold British citizenship and be eligible for UK security clearance to be considered for this role.
If you want a test role where you actually understand the system, not just the script, this is worth a conversation
