Description:

Do you want to take on a new challenge?

We're supporting an innovative technology organisation developing advanced scientific and engineering products used around the world. As software continues to play an increasingly important role in product development, we're looking for a Software Engineer to join a collaborative R&D team working on complex desktop applications that interact closely with sophisticated hardware systems.

This is an opportunity to work on challenging engineering problems, contribute to long-term product development and help shape the future direction of world-class technology.

THE OPPORTUNITY

You'll be responsible for developing and enhancing Windows-based desktop software used within advanced scientific and engineering systems. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll contribute to software design, architecture, implementation and testing whilst collaborating closely with other engineers across hardware, systems and software disciplines.

This role would suit a Software Engineer who enjoys understanding how systems work beneath the surface and has experience building robust, maintainable software products rather than purely web-based applications.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Designing, developing and maintaining desktop software applications using C# and Microsoft technologies

Contributing to software architecture, application design and long-term technical direction

Developing robust and maintainable code using object-oriented design principles and recognised design patterns

Building software that interacts closely with complex hardware and engineering systems

Working within Agile development teams to deliver new product functionality and enhancements

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Strong commercial experience developing desktop applications using C#

Good understanding of object-oriented design, software architecture and design patterns

Experience developing multithreaded, concurrent or asynchronous applications

Experience designing software interfaces, APIs and maintainable application structures

Experience working on software products within engineering, scientific, instrumentation, medical device or hardware-focused environments

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

WPF, XAML or MVVM

Windows desktop application development

Hardware integration, instrument control or data acquisition systems

Scientific, imaging, measurement or engineering products

Real-time or performance-critical software applications

WE WANT YOU!

We're looking for engineers who enjoy solving complex problems and taking ownership of software design, rather than simply implementing requirements. If you have a passion for software engineering, enjoy working close to hardware and want to contribute to products that combine software, engineering and innovation, we'd love to hear from you.

If you want to make a difference in return for excellent employee benefits and career development opportunities, then get in touch!
