Software Developer

Permanent | Hybrid working Newcastle- Leeds or Manchester) | AWS- Azure- BPSS

We are looking for Software Developers with strong AWS and Azure experience to work at an early stage alongside enterprise architects and senior engineers. You will help research, design and prototype the foundations of a new service, with particular emphasis on automation, integration and intelligent workflows.

You will join Peregrine who are supporting a large public sector organisation, starting an ambitious transformation programme focused on modernising how financial support services are delivered. The aim is to explore whether multiple existing approaches can be consolidated into a single, streamlined service.

As a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, they will be responsible for driving improvements through both new system functionality and changes to supporting processes. They will work alongside experts in technical development to scope and design solutions that meet a range of business and technical requirements, while ensuring the needs of the user remain at the heart of the service. They will be working across Bereavement and Care services, initially working on Attendance Allowance

Responsibilities:

Technical design for a green field application, collaborating with architect to help design and shape the technical approach and solution, expert level knowledge in designing and implementing microservices based solution using Java and Spring Boot
Proven ability in delivering thorough unit level test coverage using common testing frameworks such as JUnit
Expertise in current programming languages and frameworks such as Java and Spring Boot along with experience working with cloud platforms AWS & Azure, utilising CI/CD.
A passion for clean, maintainable, secure software
You’ll have successfully provided technical leadership to Agile project teams, having delivered high-quality software solutions that make a real impact, with experience of breaking down designs into deliverable technical stories. Strategic and self-driven, you’re an expert in communicating technical information with clarity and confidence.
You’ll thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment where creativity is key to solving complex and unprecedented challenges.
Collaborate closely across multiple disciplines within the team
Engage with wider teams across different levels / capabilities and contribute to the engineering and user-centred design communities.
Have an excellent ability to self-organise and define priorities
Coach and mentor colleagueSkills & Experience:

·      Strong experience with Python

·      Experience with AWS & Azure

·      Focus on automation and system integration

·      Comfortable working in early stage, fast evolving environments (Alpha project experience)

·      Utilising CI/CD

·      Active BPSS, SC clearance or eligible for clearance 

Desirable skills:

·      Experience supporting AI or data driven platforms

·      Knowledge of cyber security or fraud prevention domains

·      Experience working within government or critical national infrastructure environments
