Social Worker – Locality Team | Westmorland and Furness Council | £45 per hour

Sheldon Phillips are working in partnership with Westmorland and Furness Council to recruit experienced Social Workers to join their Locality Teams. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a supportive service committed to relationship-based practice, early intervention and achieving the best possible outcomes for children and families.

Working within the Locality Team, you'll manage a varied and rewarding caseload, supporting children and their families through assessment, planning and intervention. You'll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, work collaboratively with partner agencies and make a genuine difference to the lives of vulnerable children and young people across the area.

Role Overview

As a Locality Social Worker, you will hold responsibility for children and families requiring statutory intervention. You'll undertake assessments, manage Child in Need and Child Protection plans, complete safeguarding enquiries and progress cases through pre-proceedings where required, ensuring children receive the right support at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a diverse caseload of children and families within statutory Children's Services.

Undertake Child and Family Assessments in line with statutory guidance and timescales.

Complete Section 47 enquiries and safeguarding investigations.

Develop, implement and review Child in Need and Child Protection plans.

Carry out direct work with children and families to reduce risk and promote positive change.

Attend and contribute to strategy discussions, core groups and child protection conferences.

Progress cases through the Public Law Outline (PLO) process where necessary.

Work closely with multi-agency partners, including education, health and police colleagues.

Prepare high-quality assessments, reports and case recordings.

Participate in regular supervision and contribute to ongoing service improvement.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification.

Current Social Work England registration.

Previous experience within Children's Locality, Safeguarding or Assessment Teams.

Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory processes.

Experience undertaking Child and Family Assessments and Section 47 enquiries.

Excellent assessment, analytical and report-writing skills.

Ability to build effective relationships with children, families and partner agencies.

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
