Job Summary:

As a Smart Buildings Designer in the Pre-Sales Bids team, you'll be based at their head office. You'll be responsible for scoping, designing, and costing ICT infrastructure solutions to meet clients' needs, from initial enquiry to award. Your role involves infrastructure design, costing major design and build projects, and handling ITT/RFP, RFIs, and mid/post bid presentations. You will ensure compliance with client expectations and facilitate a smooth handover to project delivery and operational support.

Key Responsibilities:

ICT Solutions Design:
Lead technical design and job costing within the Bids team.
Design ICT infrastructure solutions to meet client requirements.
Conduct site surveys to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
Produce detailed technical proposals and supporting documentation.
Manage bid enquiries from receipt to submission.
Prepare cost models demonstrating material, labour, and services.
Relationship Management:
Build and maintain relationships with internal teams, manufacturers, suppliers, and partners.
Work with Operations to establish proposed rates for tender responses.
Liaise with Procurement for costings.
Attend project kick-off meetings to hand over design authority to installation teams.
Presenting and Client Interaction:
Deliver technical and commercial presentations to clients.
Represent our client at client meetings and workshops.
Attend meetings with Account Managers to gather requirements.
Documentation and Reporting:
Create and maintain technical and commercial bid documentation.
Produce financial costing sheets and client submissions.
Prepare reports for department analytics as needed.
Support and Mentoring:
Support the Head of Design Bid in achieving team objectives.
Provide specialist guidance and advice to team members.
Mentor junior team members.

Person Specification:

Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of cabling infrastructure solutions and ICT design.
Familiarity with Building Information Modelling and 3D CAD solutions.
Understanding of testing and commissioning requirements for ICT infrastructure.
Skills:
Strong communication and IT skills.
Ability to design and implement ICT infrastructure for various markets.
Strong commercial awareness and ability to present financial information.
Behaviours:

Commitment to data integrity and security.

Qualifications:

Essential:
Minimum five A*-C (4-9) GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English.
Valid DBS Check.
Desirable:
BICSI RCDD® certification.
CNet CDCDP® certification.
Accreditations from recognised manufacturers and relevant industry memberships.

Experience:

Essential:
At least 5 years of relevant experience.
Experience with Smart Building systems over ICT cabling infrastructures.
Desirable:
Awareness of AV, Electronic Security, IoT, and network architecture
