Slinger / Banksman – Port Operations (Humber Region)
Location: Humber Region (Hull, Immingham, Goole & surrounding ports)
Job Type: Temporary & Ongoing Opportunities
Salary: Competitive hourly rates + overtime available
Elite Consult Group is looking to recruit experienced Slinger / Banksmen to support a number of our established port and terminal clients across the Humber region.
We have regular opportunities available for reliable, safety-conscious individuals who have experience working within busy port, marine or cargo handling environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Safely sling, lift and guide cargo during loading and discharge operations.
* Direct crane and plant operators using recognised hand signals and radio communication.
* Ensure all lifting activities are carried out safely and in accordance with site procedures.
* Carry out pre-use visual checks of lifting accessories.
* Work closely with vessel crews, stevedores and terminal personnel.
* Maintain high standards of health, safety and housekeeping at all times.
Essential Requirements
* Previous experience working as a Slinger / Banksman within a port, marine, logistics or heavy industrial environment.
* Relevant Slinger/Banksman qualification (NPORS, CPCS or equivalent accepted).
* Strong understanding of safe lifting operations.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
* Right to Work in the UK.
* Flexible approach to working hours, including early starts, weekends and overtime when required.
Desirable
* Port induction or previous dockside experience.
* Additional qualifications such as FLT, Chocker, Timbering or Tally experience would be advantageous.
