Site Services Operative - Immediate Start
8 hours per day (7am – 3.30pm in half hour unpaid lunch)
Overall Purpose of the Role
The Site Services Operative is a vital, physically active/demanding role dedicated to maintaining a safe, clean, and productive environment. Working as part of the Site Services team, you will ensure that the cleanliness of the facility meets the highest quality standards for the supply, production, storage, and dispatch of raw materials and finished goods. This role is essential in reflecting company values through the upkeep of both production areas and employee amenities.
Experience & Education:
* Level 4+ GCSE Maths and English required.
* Previous experience in cleaning services is preferred but not essential.
* Familiarity with industrial cleaning techniques, equipment, and chemical handling preferred but not essential.
* Due to the rural location of the site a full UK driving license is desirable and will be required for certain tasks associated with the flexible deployment of department staff.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Perform routine cleaning including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting of surfaces within assigned areas.
* Clean and disinfect high-touch zones, including toilets, kitchens, changing rooms, and canteens, to ensure strict food hygiene and safety standards.
* Use specialised industrial tools, such as high-pressure washers (full training provided).
* Empty waste bins and ensure proper waste segregation and disposal in designated areas.
* Maintain strict hygiene protocols across yards, some production areas and staff facilities.
* Comply with all health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and COSHH guidelines.
* Consistently use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by site protocols, training and as conditions may require.
* Maintain all cleaning equipment in good working order and report any malfunctions or damage immediately.
* Monitor cleaning supply levels, replenish stock as needed, and report shortages to supervisor.
* Promptly identify and report safety hazards, maintenance issues, accidents, or incidents.
* Provide cover for team members and assist with ad hoc tasks as required to ensure efficient site operations.
Key Required Attributes
* Capability to perform repetitive physical tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, while working in outdoor or unheated environments.
* A keen eye for identifying areas that require maintenance or deep cleaning.
* Exceptional punctuality and trustworthiness.
* Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team and interact professionally with colleagues. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
* A flexible approach to working weekends, or holidays if required. Responsibilities may evolve to include additional duties as required by departmental or needs. To undertake training as required by departmental or site needs.
Preferred Attributes
* Familiarity with agricultural products and/or feed manufacturing processes. Knowledge of industry plant.
* Ability to adapt to changing site needs and address cleaning and other work-related challenges independently.
* Ability to complete tasks efficiently within designated timeframes without constant supervision.
