Description:

Major Recruitment are looking for a Site Process Engineer to lead the process engineering function on our client's site, supporting both new and existing plants and products. This includes initial scoping, FEED studies, process engineering design, calculations, process safety, and risk management.

Our client is a leading independent, global manufacturer of specialty aroma chemicals and natural extracts for the flavour and fragrance industry. Established 90 years ago, they partner with the world's biggest flavour and fragrance companies to manufacture specialty aroma chemicals and unique natural extracts that make a difference for their customers and their products.

Salary: 60k

Working hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm

Field of Responsibility and Main Tasks:

Comply with all EHS requirements, policies, and principles.
Support FEED studies, preparing relevant process engineering documentation, including P&IDs, commissioning procedures, equipment specifications, data sheets, calculations, etc., promptly.
Plan and manage the installation and commissioning of new or modified plants, ensuring process scale-up parameters are understood, and production meets cost, time, EHS, and quality targets.
Lead the initial conceptual phase of capital projects, developing strategies for expanding and providing capacity to meet business needs. Review designs for optimal balance between technical suitability, operability, and cost-efficiency.
Participate in major capital project teams, ensuring process engineering input meets scope, cost, and time targets.
Lead or participate in HAZOPs, design reviews, quantified risk assessments, and process safety reviews (HSE reviews, HAZOPs, LOPAs), ensuring implementation of recommendations and adherence to industry best practices.
Drive process improvement activities, supporting manufacturing troubleshooting and optimisation.
Establish and lead a process safety management system on site, enhancing standards and ensuring compliance with competent authorities.

Qualifications:

Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering
Chartered Engineer status with a recognized professional body (e.g., IChemE)

Skills:

Proficient knowledge of key regulations (e.g., DSEAR, CDM, COMAH) is preferable.
Strong project management skills
Ability to lead cross-functional and Production/Engineering problem-solving teams

Experience:

5+ years in chemical manufacturing or process industry
Experience working on a COMAH site.
Proven experience in projects, including EPC contracts.
Continuous professional development throughout career
Demonstrated leadership and project ownership.

Personal Skills:

Clear, articulate, and confident communicator with an engaging and influential approach
Capable of working to deadlines and milestones with minimal supervision
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
Proficient in IT and computer literacy
