Here at Theo James Recruitment, we are working alongside a leader in the chemical manufacturing industry, dedicated to innovation and sustainability who are recruiting for a Site Process Engineer to join their team due to exciting growth.

Job Description:

The Process Engineering Lead will report to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for leading the process engineering function on site. This role involves supporting both new and existing plant and product initiatives, encompassing initial scoping, FEED studies, process engineering design, calculations, process safety, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

* Adhere to all EHS requirements, policies, and principles.

* Support FEED studies by preparing relevant process engineering documentation, including P&IDs, commissioning procedures, equipment specifications & data sheets, and calculations for projects in a timely manner.

* Plan and manage the installation & commissioning of new or modified plants, ensuring safe and effective production that meets cost, time, EHS, and quality targets.

* Lead the initial conceptual phase of capital projects to develop strategies for expanding and providing capacity to meet business needs. Ensure an optimal balance between technical suitability, operability, and cost-efficiency in designs.

* Participate in major capital project teams and support process engineering input to ensure development, design, and data provision activities meet agreed targets of scope, cost, and time.

* Lead/participate in HAZOPs and Design review studies, quantified risk assessments, and ensure implementation of recommendations. Utilize industry best practices in all aspects of work.

* Take a key role in process improvement activities and support manufacturing troubleshooting and optimization.

* Establish and lead a process safety management system on site to improve standards and ensure compliance with the requirements of competent authorities.

Skills & Experience:

Qualifications:

* Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering.

* Chartered Engineer status with a recognized professional body (e.g., IChemE).

Skills:

* Good knowledge of key regulations (e.g., DSEAR, CDM, COMAH) is preferable.

* Project management skills.

* Ability to lead problem-solving teams both cross-functionally and within Production/Engineering functions.

Experience:

* 5+ years in a chemical manufacturing or process industry organization.

* Experience working on a COMAH site.

* Experience with projects, including EPC contracts.

* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) throughout career.

* Evidence of effective leadership exposure and project ownership.

Required Personal Skills:

* Clear, articulate, and confident communicator with an engaging and influential approach.

* Capable of working to deadlines and milestones with minimal supervision.

* Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

* Self-motivated with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.

* Good level of IT and computer literacy.
