Site Manager - Domestic Hot Water & Gas Network Upgrades
Location: York
Job Type: Temporary Contract
Duration: 10 Weeks
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Site Manager to oversee two projects running concurrently on the same site, involving Domestic Hot Water (DHW) and Gas Network upgrades.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate two projects running side by side, ensuring works remain on programme.
- Supervise subcontractors, trades, and site operatives.
- Coordinate daily site activities and ensure resources, materials, and labour are effectively managed.
- Maintain a strong focus on Health & Safety, ensuring company procedures, RAMS, permits, and site rules are followed.
- Carry out regular site inspections and ensure any issues are identified and addressed promptly.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure projects are completed to the required quality standards.
- Attend and lead site meetings, briefings, and toolbox talks where required.
- Maintain accurate site records, diaries, permits, and relevant documentation.
- Ensure the site remains clean, organised, and compliant with all relevant regulations.
- Identify and manage potential risks, delays, and issues before they impact the programme.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Manager, preferably within gas, heating, plumbing, M&E, utilities, or similar construction environments.
- Experience managing multiple workstreams or projects concurrently.
- SMSTS - essential.
- First Aid - essential.
- Fire Marshal - essential.
- Strong Health & Safety background with a good understanding of site compliance, RAMS, permits, and safe systems of work.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage subcontractors and site teams confidently.
- Good understanding of construction programmes and site coordination.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- VIVO card - preferred but not essential.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is hands-on, organised, safety-conscious, and confident managing multiple teams and activities on a busy site. You should have a strong understanding of construction site management and be comfortable taking responsibility for the safe and efficient delivery of works.
VIVO card holders are preferred, however candidates without a VIVO card will also be considered.
