The Role

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager for the project, the Lead Civil Engineer shall be responsible for the assurance and oversight on civil and structural design, implementation, operation, and optimisation on Hydro Storage schemes, from inception to operation. The role will be focused on the engineering design and delivery of above ground / near-surface assets including dams, reservoirs, shaft and tunnel portals, intakes/tailraces, powerhouses, access tracks, and marine infrastructure.

The key responsibilities include:

* Civil Engineering support to the project engineering team; Providing technical leadership on civil and structural engineering issues.

* Providing review of consultant / contractor designs and calculations, civil designs (including foundations, piling, earthworks, etc.), structural designs (including concrete / steelwork / rebar, etc.), marine and drainage design, civil hydraulic design – outfalls / intakes / tailraces, earthworks / dams / access tracks, geotechnical investigation specification, surveys, and site investigations in general, representing the company in meetings with designers, contractors, and other relevant stakeholders.

* Providing assurance and oversight of civil engineering through pre-delivery and delivery phases.

The Candidate

The successful candidate should have 10-15+ years within a civil engineering design and build role and experience of civil engineering design and build experience of major infrastructure projects in the energy or major utilities sector, Heavy civil hydraulic engineering experience (dams / tunnels / reservoirs / marine engineering / access tracks / major earthworks / drainage and utilities), Experience across at least one but preferably more full life cycle of design and build schemes, Experience of preparing employers' requirements / tender packages, Oversight / assurance roles through delivery, Design management / project management experience. Along with the above we are also seeking and degree qualified chartered civil engineer.

The Opportunity

Working with a dynamic team constructing cutting-edge pumped storage schemes will provide the successful candidate with extremely relevant real-world project experience. Longer-term, the successful candidate can expect to work on the delivery of pumped hydro schemes into delivery and closeout and also provide support on other generation projects in the company’s portfolio, including hydrogen electrolysis, gas peaking, and battery projects
