Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager / Site Agent to support the delivery of a major clean water mains renewal programme across Yorkshire.

The role will focus predominantly on highway-based water mains installation and renewal schemes, requiring someone with a strong background in clean water utilities, mains laying, and managing works within live highway environments.

You will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of site activities, coordinating subcontractors and site teams while ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Yorkshire Water requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day delivery of clean water mains installation and renewal schemes.
Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and utilities to ensure works remain on programme.
Oversee works within live highways, ensuring appropriate traffic management and NRSWA requirements are maintained.
Ensure all activities comply with SHEQ requirements, RAMS, permits, and client specifications.
Manage excavation, mains laying, connections, testing, commissioning, reinstatement, and associated civils works.
Ensure appropriate controls are in place for deep excavations, confined spaces, temporary works, and traffic management.
Monitor progress and identify potential delays, risks, and technical issues, implementing appropriate solutions.
Maintain accurate site records including daily diaries, inspections, permits, quality documentation, and as-built information.
Lead site inductions, toolbox talks, briefings, and safety meetings.
Liaise with the client, engineers, subcontractors, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
Ensure completed works meet required quality, environmental, and reinstatement standards.
Support programme planning, resource allocation, and efficient delivery of the works.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

Proven experience as a Site Manager, Site Agent, General Foreman, or Senior Supervisor within clean water, utilities, or civil engineering.
Strong experience delivering water mains laying or mains renewal schemes.
Previous experience working within live highway environments is highly desirable.
Good understanding of mains laying methodologies, excavation, connections, testing, and reinstatement.
Experience with NRSWA, traffic management, RAMS, permits, and temporary works.
SMSTS.
CSCS Black Card or equivalent.
First Aid at Work.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Flexibility to travel across Yorkshire.

Desirable

EUSR Water Hygiene.
NRSWA Supervisor qualification.
DOMS or equivalent utility network qualifications.
Confined Space training.
Experience working on Yorkshire Water frameworks or similar regulated water programmes.

Personal Attributes

Excellent organisation and planning ability.
Confident managing subcontractors and multiple work fronts.
Strong focus on health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Proactive and solution-focused when dealing with site issues.
