Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Site Manager on an 7 Month Contact based in Inverness.

Role summary:

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead day-to-day site operations on a substation project in Inverness. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the site, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This is a 7-month contract role suited to a hands-on manager with substation, civils and/or electrical infrastructure experience.

Responsibilities:

* Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the site, coordinating all trades, subcontractors and supervisors.

* Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with the Safety Rules, site-specific procedures, and relevant industry standards.

* Own and manage site Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) performance, including RAMS approval, permits and site inductions.

* Chair daily briefings and toolbox talks; carry out regular site inspections, audits and safety tours.

* Manage and monitor the site programme, tracking progress against key milestones and reporting any delays or risks.

* Coordinate with the Category 3 Electrical Supervisor and other authorised staff on switching, isolations and substation access arrangements.

* Manage site logistics, deliveries, welfare facilities and subcontractor mobilisation/demobilisation.

* Liaise directly with the Client, Project Manager, Design team and other stakeholders on site progress and issues.

* Maintain accurate site records, including diaries, progress reports, incident reports and close-out documentation.

* Manage change control, identifying and escalating variations, delays or cost impacts promptly.

* Ensure quality control processes are followed and that works are handed over in line with client requirements.

* Promote a positive site culture, ensuring compliance with company and client policies at all times.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Site Manager on utility, substation, or major electrical/civil infrastructure projects, ideally with a DNO.

Strong working knowledge of Safety Rules and site management procedures.

Category 1 Authorisation for substation access – current and valid.

SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) – current and valid.

CSCS Card (Manager level).

First Aid at Work certificate.

NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) – desirable but often essential for client approval.

Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and their application on site.

Full UK driving licence – own transport required for site access in Inverness.

Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple trades and subcontractors.

Right to work in the UK.

Desirable:

* Category 3 Authorisation for substation access.

* Previous experience working directly with the client or National Grid substation projects.

* Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) qualification.

* Working at Height / Confined Space training.

* Familiarity with primary and secondary substation equipment and associated civils/construction works.
