Description:

Site Manager | New Build Residential | Chiddingfold, Surrey

The opportunity

We are retained by a privately owned regional housebuilder with a strong reputation across the South East for design led, high specification family housing. They are appointing a Site Manager to take ownership of a flagship village development in Chiddingfold, and this is a permanent position within a business that promotes from within and keeps its teams together across projects.

The project

The scheme is a residential development of around 78 new homes on a village edge site in Chiddingfold, within Waverley Borough. The site was allocated for housing through the adopted Chiddingfold Neighbourhood Plan and outline planning consent has now been secured, so the project is moving into technical design and pre commencement stages.

Key features of the development include:

* A mix of private and affordable homes in a range of sizes, from apartments through to larger detached family houses

* New public open space, informal recreation land and ecology enhancements delivered under a Section 106 agreement

* Associated highways works, drainage infrastructure and a new site access

You would be joining at the beginning of the build programme, which means real influence over how the site is set up, sequenced and run from first spade in the ground through to handover.

The role

* Take full day to day responsibility for construction on site, reporting to the Contracts Manager

* Manage subcontractors and suppliers to deliver the programme on time and to the specification

* Own health, safety and environmental performance on site and ensure full compliance

* Drive quality standards through inspections, snagging and sign off ahead of NHBC and building control visits

* Coordinate closely with technical, commercial and sales colleagues

* Maintain positive relationships with the local community, the parish council and the local authority

* Deliver a smooth customer handover and support the aftercare team

About you

* Proven experience as a Site Manager or Senior Site Manager with a housebuilder or a residential main contractor

* Track record on traditional build new build housing schemes, ideally including groundworks and infrastructure phases

* SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid as a minimum

* Strong working knowledge of NHBC standards and building regulations

* Confident managing subcontractors and comfortable holding people to a standard

* An eye for detail and genuine pride in the finished product

* Experience of Build Quality or similar quality assurance platforms is useful but not essential

What is on offer

* Basic salary of £65,000 to £75,000 depending on experience

* Car allowance or company vehicle

* Site and company bonus scheme

* Pension, private healthcare and life assurance

* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays

* A long term pipeline of work across Surrey and the surrounding counties
