INDUSTRY: Building and Construction

START DATE: ASAP

SALARY BAND: 50k-55k

LOCATION: Bideford

Due to continued growth, our client, a leading new build housing contractor, is seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the delivery of high-quality residential developments.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring excellent organisational skills, strong construction knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple trades and subcontractors to ensure homes are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards. Projects will range from traditional housing developments through to large-scale residential schemes.

You will take full responsibility for day-to-day site operations, driving programme performance, quality, health & safety, and customer satisfaction from groundworks through to final handover.

Key Responsibilities

Manage site operations from site setup through to successful completion and handover.
Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company procedures, and NHBC standards.
Coordinate labour, subcontractors, materials, plant, and site logistics.
Take ownership of site health & safety, promoting a positive safety culture across the development.
Manage build programmes and ensure key milestones and completion targets are achieved.
Monitor build quality throughout all stages of construction.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure work is carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, and building regulations.
Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and daily briefings.
Liaise effectively with Technical, Commercial, Sales, and Customer Care teams.
Manage subcontractor performance and productivity.
Ensure plots are completed to the highest standard and ready for customer handover.
Maintain accurate site records, including progress reports, quality inspections, and health & safety documentation.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, local authorities, inspectors, and stakeholders.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Site Manager within the new build housing sector.
Experience delivering volume housing developments for a recognised housebuilder or residential contractor.
Strong knowledge of modern construction methods and housebuilding processes.
Experience managing multiple subcontract trades and site teams.
Thorough understanding of NHBC standards and Building Regulations.
Valid SMSTS, CSCS Card, and First Aid at Work certification.
Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to manage build programmes and deliver projects to strict deadlines.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability.
Full UK Driving Licence.
