Site Manager - Electrical Engineering & Systems Integration

Position Status: Permanent

Location: Base in Stone, Staffordshire (with regular UK-wide travel to client sites)

Sector: Energy & Advanced System Integration

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager with a strong background in Electrical Engineering to oversee site installations and commissioning works across the UK energy sector.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and specification compliance during the delivery of complex Protection, Control, Automation, and Electrical installations. You will lead multidisciplinary site teams and manage specialist sub-contractors on-site across transmission electricity substations, large power generators, and major industrial client facilities.

Note: This position involves regular travel around the UK to support client site operations.

Key Responsibilities

Site Management & Delivery: Oversee the installation, commissioning, and customer acceptance of Protection, Control, and Electrical systems to safety, quality, and time targets under CDM Regulations 2015.

Team Leadership: Manage multi-disciplinary site teams-including Site Technicians, Hardware/Software Engineers, Commissioning Engineers, and installation sub-contractors.

Client & Stakeholder Communication: Chair pre-start meetings, daily progress meetings, and client coordination sessions, issuing formal site documentation and minutes.

Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality (SHEQ): Develop, review, and enforce site documentation including Construction Phase Plans (CPP/RAMS), Site Inductions, Site Waste Management Plans, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).

Site Surveys & Scoping: Conduct site surveys to assist tendering teams and confirm project requirements prior to mobilization.

Resource & Cost Control: Partner with Project Managers to track scope, manage resource planning, control site drawings, and identify schedule/cost variations.

Hands-on Support: Assist with electrical testing and commissioning activities where necessary, oversee site welfare setup, and organize tooling and lifting equipment.

Candidate Profile

Experience & Essential Skills

Proven track record in site management with a strong background in electrical installation and small mechanical works.

Strong working knowledge of UK construction safety regulations, specifically CDM Regulations 2015.

Solid ability to interpret complex electrical engineering drawings, control schematics, and technical specifications.

Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills, with a track record of driving projects forward under pressure.

Full UK Driving Licence and full flexibility to undertake regular nationwide travel.

Qualifications & Certifications

Electrical Certification: Current BS 7671 18th Edition qualification.

Safety Qualifications: CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS - 5 Day) or equivalent.

Health & Safety Training: Accredited H&S training (IOSH, CITB, RoSPA) covering Manual Handling, Working at Height, Confined Spaces, and Lifting Operations (Appointed Person / Banksman preferred).

Grid & High-Voltage Standards: Strong knowledge of National Grid procedures and standards (ideally authorized under SR163 / former TP137 Site Manager). Current National Grid Competent Person status preferred.

Technical Training: Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor, Asbestos Awareness, and Impressed Voltages training.

First Aid: Valid First Aid at Work Certificate.
