Key Accountabilities

A general summary of the major activities and responsibilities (which represents the key tasks) of the jobholder.

Day to day site management, direction and co-ordination of all site activities carried out by the company and its sub-contractors, with particular focus on health and safety, planning, programming and co-ordination with the company's off-site activities.
Ensure compliance with the Company's policies and procedures.
Execution of duties to meet the company's and project's KPIs, and to meet individual performance objectives.
Actively promote and engage with Sub-contractor safety requirements
Through your attitude and conduct, set an example to others
Full understanding of H&S procedures and ensure staff within your control our competent to work safely.
Ensure those directly or indirectly under your control understand and follow the safe working practices.
Report all incidents (including near miss) promptly to the Director and conduct preliminary investigations. In conjunction with the safety department, identify their cause and eliminate re-occurrence as far as possible.
Ensure employees are aware of their personal responsibilities and Sub-contractor's environmental policies and procedures. Actively promote effective environmental management.
Ensure all employees feel motivated and engaged to deliver excellence.
Pre-commencement and construction phase planning of site activities and procurement of site requirements in co-ordination with the Sub-contractor project team and requirements of Sub-contractor Site Services.
On-site management and control of the company's site operations, both of in-house and sub-contracted activities.
Day-to-day monitoring, recording and documentation of the company's site activities including compilation of site progress reports.
Completion, compilation and issue of all necessary site quality documentation.
Represent the company at site progress meetings, as directed by the client
When required, provide assistance to the bid department, and draw up tender site programmes, budgets and method statement documentation.
Embrace learning opportunities to develop relevant knowledge and skills required to fulfil role. When required also mentor Sub-contractor personnel to the same end.

Job Specific Requirements:

A general summary of the main activities and responsibilities (which represent the key tasks) of the job holder. (A sample of day to day actions).

Familiarisation with the contract drawings, specification, scope, programme and contract requirements, in particular with respect to site safety, quality, scope and budget. These will be briefed by the Project/Contracts manager upon appointment to the contract.
Provide assistance to the Project/Contracts manager in formulation and upkeep of the contract programme.
Production, maintenance and amendment when necessary of delivery schedules
Produce and amend when necessary the Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Lift Plans and associated documentation necessary to carry out the site activities.
Carry out pre-commencement SSHO inspections and pre-commencement surveys, in accordance with the company procedures and contract requirements.
Ensure all site accommodation, attendances and the like are in place to the agreed standards and requirements.
Ensure the timely procurement of all resources necessary to carry out the site activities.
Day-to-day management and control of in-house operatives, engineering surveyors and supervisory team.
Day-to-day management and control of sub-contracted site activities.
Completion, compilation and issue of all necessary site quality documentation.
Compilation of NCR reports including liaison with the contracts manager, BEL, and quality department to rectify NCRs at the earliest opportunity.
Report all accidents, incidents and near misses in accordance with the company procedures, including investigation of the same when required.
Liaise fully with the Company's safety officers/advisors and the clients safety representatives.
Carry out any other reasonable duties, deemed to be within capabilities, as required by the contract/project manager and/or construction manager.

JOBHOLDER REQUIREMENTS

Essential

Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of steel construction methods and practice.
In depth knowledge of site Health and Safety Requirements.
In depth knowledge of site Quality requirements.
Good computer skills
Experience:
Solid experience in a constructional steel site management role.
Demonstrable experience in the planning and programming of steel-work (and associated packages) installation.
Demonstrable experience in the production of Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and associated site documentation.
Demonstrable experience in the operation of site Quality Plans and ITPs.
Demonstrable experience in the erection of the majority of the steel structures and operations:
High rise structures
Medium rise and city centre structures
Low rise, truss and portal frame structures
Rail structures.
Heavy civils structures e.g. power stations and refineries.
Refurbishment type work including welding operations.
Site painting.
Other, such as Nuclear, MOD, Airports.
Qualifications:
CSCS black/white in site management
SMSTS or IOSH equivalent
CPCS Appointed Person - lifting operations.
Qualification in management of work at height.
Full Driving License The role is site based and as locations can vary the job holder must be willing to travel and stay away from home as required.

Desirable

Knowledge:
Detailed knowledge of construction contracts and sub-contracts.
Experience:
Experience in other forms of construction, such as RC, foundations, timber, M and E.
Qualifications:
LUL permit to enter
PTS
CCNSG Safety passport
Fall protection equipment inspection
Net installation inspection
HAV training
Manual handling training
