Freelance Site Manager – Civils
Location: Hull
Start Date: October 2026
Duration: Initially 8 weeks, with a strong likelihood of long-term extension
Rate: £350 - £400 DoE
I am currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to join a major offshore wind farm project in Hull.
The initial requirement is for approximately 8 weeks, covering the early civils and enabling phase of the project, with a strong likelihood of the position extending into a long-term freelance opportunity as the wider onshore works progress.
THE ROLE
Initially, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of:
• S278 highway works
• Site compound set-up
• Site access roads
• Associated enabling and civils works
• Coordination of subcontractors and site teams
• Health & safety and environmental compliance
• Quality control and progress monitoring
• Liaising with the project management team, client and other stakeholders
• Ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme and to the required standards
Following the initial phase, the project is expected to progress into the enabling works and wider civils package for the onshore section of the development, providing the opportunity for a longer-term freelance position.
ABOUT YOU
• Proven experience as a Site Manager within a civils environment
• Strong experience delivering S278/highways and associated infrastructure works
• Experience managing subcontractors and site teams
• A strong understanding of site health & safety, quality and programme management
• Experience working on large-scale infrastructure, energy or similar projects would be advantageous
• Relevant SMSTS and CSCS qualifications
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• The ability to take ownership of works and drive delivery on site
