Site Engineer x2 - Structures

Location: West Midlands
Project: HS2
Contract: 6 months
Role: Site Engineer x2
Sector: Major Civil Engineering / Infrastructure / Structures
We are currently recruiting for 2 Site Engineers to join a major HS2 project in the West Midlands on an initial 6-month contract.
The main focus of these roles will be structural works, with particular emphasis on reinforced concrete and rebar installation. We are looking for Site Engineers with strong site-based experience who are confident with setting out and using survey equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure all permits are applied for and in place, ready for site work to begin.
Complete Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Check Sheets as soon as checks can be completed.
Carry out setting out and surveying.
Manage and coordinate subcontractors.
Make effective use of document control to manage the distribution of information.
Develop and approve relevant procedures specific to the area of works.
Approve method statements and risk assessments and ensure they are followed throughout the works.
Regularly liaise with the client.
Ensure design drawings are marked up to reflect works completed as the works are finished.
Liaise with other sections to ensure any clashes on site are managed and work flows smoothly.
Regularly review procedures to ensure they are as efficient as possible.
Support the delivery and quality control of structural works, including concrete and reinforcement activities.

Requirements

Qualified to degree level in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
Previous Site Engineering experience preferred.
Experience working on large-scale civil engineering infrastructure projects.
Strong experience in structural reinforced concrete works preferred.
Experience with concrete works and rebar installation.
Candidates with strong experience in drainage, highways and earthworks will also be considered.
Experience working within possession environments, potentially including Network Rail, would be advantageous.
Valid CSCS card.
Current driving licence.
Strong setting out and surveying skills.
Ability to use levels, EDM/Total Station and GPS survey equipment.
Able to read and understand engineering drawings and schedules.
Able to produce detailed documentation for handover of completed works.
Able to accurately take off and schedule material quantities.
Good knowledge of specifications and contract documentation.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a Site Engineer with a strong structures background, particularly in reinforced concrete and reinforcement installation. You should be confident working independently on site, comfortable using survey equipment and able to work effectively with subcontractors, site teams and the client.
Experience on major infrastructure projects, particularly HS2 or similar large-scale schemes, would be highly advantageous.
