Site Engineer - Major Civil Infrastructure Project

Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire (OX13 6AP)

Position Type: Temporary / Contract

Project Duration: Ongoing through April 2027 (with potential extension)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Site Engineer to join our team on the enabling works for a major strategic reservoir infrastructure project in Oxfordshire.

As the Principal Contractor, we are delivering a critical package of works that includes comprehensive ecological and environmental surveys, trial holes, trial trenching, and extensive archaeological exploration. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in the early-stage delivery of a high-profile, long-term civil engineering scheme.

Key Deliverable & Responsibilities

Engineering Standards: Accurate setting out and surveying across various site locations.
Permit Management: Raise, manage, and verify all "Permits to Dig" ensuring full approval before any ground or excavation works commence on-site.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain precise daily site diaries, track progress, and report site issues, delays, or potential safety risks to project management.
Safety & Compliance: Monitor and enforce strict adherence to health, safety, quality, and environmental standards, working in full alignment with company procedures at all times.
Collaboration: Liaise effectively with cross-functional engineering teams, site support staff, and active construction operations.

Skills & Qualifications Required

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of core civil engineering principles, modern construction techniques, and site best practices.Essential Certifications:

Valid CSCS Card
Thames Water Passport
Active Skillsguard account
Education & Training: Relevant vocational training or degree/HND in Civil Engineering.
Communication: Clear, proactive communication and strong problem-solving abilities on site.
