The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer to join a well-established specialist construction contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex industrial, energy, infrastructure, and environmental projects across the UK.
The business has extensive experience delivering technically challenging reinforced concrete, civil engineering, structural, and process engineering works for major industrial clients. Their portfolio includes energy facilities, waste management infrastructure, process plants, and large-scale engineering projects where quality, safety, and technical excellence are paramount.
This opportunity is based on a significant waste-to-energy development in Avonmouth, offering a long-term contract on a landmark project within the renewable energy sector.
The Role
As Site Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of setting out, surveying, quality assurance, and engineering support across the project. Working closely with the site management and construction teams, you will ensure works are delivered accurately, safely, and in accordance with programme and specification requirements.
The project will involve a variety of civil engineering, reinforced concrete, structural, and infrastructure elements, making this an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to work on a technically challenging and high-profile development.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out all setting out duties across civil engineering and structural packages.
Establish and maintain survey control points and site grids.
Set out foundations, reinforced concrete structures, drainage, infrastructure works, holding down bolts, steel frame elements, and external works.
Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical information.
Produce and maintain accurate as-built surveys and engineering records.
Manage quality assurance processes and inspection documentation.
Monitor dimensional accuracy and ensure works are completed to specification.
Provide technical support to site management, subcontractors, and operatives.
Assist with progress reporting and engineering documentation.
Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
Requirements
Previous experience as a Site Engineer or Setting Out Engineer.
Strong background in civil engineering, reinforced concrete, industrial, infrastructure, or heavy construction projects.
Experience working independently and managing engineering responsibilities on site.
Strong understanding of surveying equipment and setting out procedures.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work effectively within a busy construction environment.
Essential Qualifications
CSCS Card
Desirable
Experience on industrial, energy, process plant, or major infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of QA procedures and engineering documentation.
Own survey equipment beneficial but not essential.
