Site Engineer

Description:

We are recruiting a Senior Engineer to join a tier-two civil engineering contractor on a civils infrastructure project based near Reading. This is a direct delivery role requiring an experienced engineer to lead site technical control, manage engineering teams, and drive delivery standards for a high-profile asset upgrade.

The Role

As Senior Engineer, you will lead technical governance and delivery on-site, overseeing setting-out precision, sub-agent support, and practical problem-solving on the ground. Your day-to-day will involve:

Engineering Control & Quality: Overseeing high-accuracy setting out, managing the implementation of ITPs, review of test results, and ensuring robust as-built documentation and quality handovers.

Technical Interface & Design Coordination: Reviewing complex construction drawings, managing CAD data, and driving the TQ/RFI process to resolve design conflicts before they impact delivery schedules.

Work Package Management: Authoring, reviewing, and approving RAMS, Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), and temporary works controls prior to shift execution.

Subcontractor & Resource Leadership: Managing sub-agents, site engineers, and specialist subcontractors, tracking daily productivity against the baseline program, and driving commercial accuracy on site.

HSEQ & Site Governance: Enforcing a proactive safety culture, conducting routine site audits, and ensuring all works strictly adhere to environmental, safety, and client-specific standards.

Essential Requirements

Direct Delivery Experience: A proven track record operating as a Senior Engineer or established Site Engineer ready to step up, working directly for a civil engineering contractor.

Technical Qualification: A degree, HND, or HNC in Civil Engineering or a related construction management discipline.

Certifications: Valid CSCS card, SMSTS certification, and Temporary Works Supervisor/Coordinator (TWS/TWC) qualification preferred.

Technical Capability: Strong literacy in modern surveying equipment, 3D setting-out models, AutoCAD, and short-term program management tools.
