Site Engineer – Industrial Project (Earthworks & S278)
Location: Nottingham
Contract: Freelance, 30 weeks
Start Date: 10th August 2026
Buildforce Solutions are recruiting a Site Engineer on behalf of a main contractor, working on a large industrial project in Nottingham. This is a 30 week contract starting on 10th August 2026, covering the earthworks and S278 phases of the scheme.
The Role:
You will be responsible for setting out and engineering duties across the earthworks and S278 packages, working closely with the site management team to ensure works are delivered accurately, safely, and to programme.
Duties will include:
* Setting out for bulk earthworks, cut and fill operations, and formation levels
* Setting out and quality control on S278 highway works including kerb lines, drainage, and carriageway construction
* Carrying out surveys, as-built records, and volume calculations
* Reviewing drawings and identifying discrepancies before works commence
* Quality assurance, inspection and test plans, and record keeping
* Liaising with subcontractors, site management, and the client's representatives
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Site Engineer on earthworks schemes, ideally on industrial or large-scale groundworks projects
* Previous experience of S278 highway works is essential
* Proficient in the use of GPS and total station equipment
* CSCS card (relevant grade)
* SMSTS or SSSTS desirable
