Site / Setting out Engineer

Cardiff

Permanent salary + benefits package

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Site / Setting Out Engineer to join a major transport infrastructure project in Cardiff that will play a key role in improving connectivity across the city.

Working as part of an experienced project delivery team, you will be responsible for the accurate setting out and engineering control of works across a variety of civil engineering packages including rail infrastructure, highways improvements, drainage, utility diversions and public realm works.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Site Engineer looking to work on one of South Wales’s flagship infrastructure projects and gain exposure to complex multidisciplinary works.

Key Responsibilities

* Carry out setting out duties in accordance with project drawings, specifications and design information.

* Establish and maintain site control points and survey data.

* Ensure all works are delivered accurately and in line with project tolerances.

* Produce and maintain accurate as-built records and survey information.

* Liaise with Site Managers, Section Engineers and subcontractors to ensure works are coordinated effectively.

* Review engineering drawings and specifications and raise technical queries where required.

* Assist with planning and sequencing of works to ensure programme requirements are achieved.

* Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure works are completed to the required quality standards.

* Prepare and manage quality assurance documentation including ITPs, check sheets and inspection records.

* Support the commercial team with quantities, measurements and progress reporting.

* Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality procedures at all times.

* Assist with temporary works implementation and permit systems where required.

Candidate Requirements

* Previous experience working as a Site Engineer or Setting Out Engineer within civil engineering, rail or infrastructure projects.

* Proven experience setting out works including drainage, earthworks, highways, structures, utilities or rail infrastructure.

* Competent using surveying equipment such as Leica, Trimble or Topcon GPS and total stations.

* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

* Experience producing as-built records and QA documentation.

* Strong understanding of construction methodologies and engineering principles.

* Excellent communication and organisational skills.

* Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

* HNC, HND or Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

* Experience working on rail, tram, highways or major infrastructure projects.

* Knowledge of NEC forms of contract.

* CSCS Card.

* SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.

* Temporary Works Supervisor qualification.

* Experience using AutoCAD or other engineering software package
