Description:

Site Agent – Marine Civil Engineering, Scotland-led

If you've been running complex civil engineering or marine engineering sites and fancy backing a business that's actually growing, keep reading.

We're recruiting on behalf of a specialist marine and civil engineering contractor that works across the full spectrum — subcontractor right through to principal contractor, sitting alongside tier one names on live projects. The business has been growing, backed by fresh investment and a new leadership team with a simple ambition: become the go-to marine construction operator in the UK, not a tier one, but the specialist everyone calls when land meets water.

This hire is being driven by upcoming work in Scotland. Scotland-based is preferred for obvious reasons around proximity and site mobility, but strong candidates elsewhere won't be screened out.

What you'll actually be doing

This is a hands-on site leadership role, not a desk job with a site visit bolted on. You'll be the one converting drawings, programme and method statements into safe, practical delivery on the ground, reporting to a Project Manager.

Run daily site operations — labour, subcontractors, plant, materials, logistics, the lot
Own site safety: briefings, toolbox talks, inspections, risk assessments, incident reporting
Keep works on programme and quality on spec, reading drawings and resolving issues as they come up
Control subcontractor performance and productivity, and stay credible in front of engineers, commercial teams and client reps
Keep proper site records to back up valuations, variations and claims

Who we're looking for

Heavy civil engineering or infrastructure background is the target here.

Tidal or marine experience is a genuine plus (ports, jetties, slipways, etc) but not a dealbreaker — what matters more is that you've run live sites with real technical and safety complexity behind them. If your background is housing groundworks, small drainage or roads, this one won't be a fit, and we'd rather tell you that upfront than waste your time.

A civils-related HNC, HND or degree helps, as does exposure to NEC or JCT contracts, but none of that outweighs having genuinely run a site.

The package

Salary in the £55k–£63k+ range
Private healthcare
Matched pension up to 10%

This is a live vacancy with work already committed, not a "keep us in mind" brief — so if this sounds like your kind of projects, get in touch and we can move quickly.
