Role: SHW Advisor (Safety, Health & Wellbeing)
Location: UK - Remote - Occasional Offshore Trips / Travel to Sites
Project: Offshore Wind Farm in the Netherlands
Start Date: Q4 2024
Duration: 12-Month Initial Contract + Likely Extensions
Rates: Negotiable Daily Rate - PAYE or Umbrella Options

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety, Health & Wellbeing Advisor to support the construction phase of a Dutch offshore wind farm. The successful candidate will possess strong knowledge of Dutch HSE laws and regulations, relevant health and safety qualifications, and extensive experience with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM). This role requires frequent travel to the Netherlands and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and wellbeing throughout the project.

Key Responsibilities:

HSE Compliance:

Ensure full compliance with Dutch health, safety, and environmental (HSE) laws and regulations during the construction phase.
Develop and implement HSE policies and procedures in line with Dutch legal requirements and industry best practices.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance and identify areas for improvement.
Health & Safety Management:

Oversee all health and safety aspects of the offshore wind farm construction project.
Develop and maintain risk assessments, method statements, and safety plans.
Monitor and report on health and safety performance, ensuring corrective actions are implemented as necessary.
CDM Coordination:

Act as the key advisor for Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) compliance.
Coordinate with project designers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure CDM duties are fulfilled.
Facilitate the effective management of health and safety risks throughout the design and construction phases.
Training and Development:

Provide health and safety training and inductions to project staff and contractors.
Promote a culture of safety and wellbeing through regular workshops, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
Stay updated on the latest HSE developments and provide guidance on best practices.

Incident Management:

Lead the investigation of any incidents or near-misses, ensuring root causes are identified and addressed.
Maintain detailed records of incidents and corrective actions taken.
Communicate findings and lessons learned to the project team and wider organisation.
Wellbeing Initiatives:

Develop and implement wellbeing programs to support the physical and mental health of the project team.
Monitor the effectiveness of wellbeing initiatives and make adjustments as needed.
Provide support and resources for employees to promote a healthy work-life balance.
Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of Dutch HSE laws and regulations.
Relevant health and safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).
Extensive experience with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM).
Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within the offshore wind or renewable energy sector.
Excellent understanding of risk management and incident investigation processes.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Willingness to travel to the Netherlands and work in an offshore environment as required.
