What's on Offer?

Salary of up to £37,000, depending on experience.

Flexible working hours of 30-40 hours per week.

28 days' holiday.

Free on-site parking.

A friendly, supportive and family-owned working environment.

A varied role with responsibility across the international supply chain.

The opportunity to work with overseas manufacturers and established retail customers.

The Opportunity

We're working with an established, family-owned business in Portsmouth that supplies products to major retailers across the UK and international markets.

With overseas manufacturing and a growing international customer base, they're looking for an experienced Shipping Coordinator to manage orders from factory production through to international shipment and final delivery.

This is a varied, hands-on role combining international shipping, factory coordination, production tracking and order management. It's an excellent opportunity for someone who understands the challenges of overseas manufacturing and enjoys keeping shipments, suppliers and deadlines on track.

Key Responsibilities

Factory & Production Coordination: Liaise with overseas manufacturers to confirm purchase orders, monitor production schedules and ensure goods are ready for shipment on time.

International Shipping: Coordinate shipments from China to the UK and international markets, managing FOB arrangements, freight bookings and delivery schedules.

Shipping Documentation: Prepare and check commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and other relevant shipping and customs documentation.

Freight & Customs: Obtain freight quotations, liaise with freight forwarders and customs agents, and coordinate import clearance and onward deliveries where required.

Order Management: Track production progress, cargo-ready dates and goods in transit, keeping internal teams informed of any changes or delays.

Costs & Invoicing: Check supplier and freight invoices, resolve discrepancies and help minimise unnecessary shipping and storage costs.

Systems & Administration: Maintain accurate order and shipment records using Excel and ERP systems, ensuring deadlines and outstanding actions are monitored.

Problem Solving: Identify potential delays, coordinate solutions with suppliers and logistics partners, and help improve existing processes.

About You

Previous experience in international shipping and coordinating orders with overseas manufacturers, ideally in China.

Good understanding of FOB shipping arrangements and international shipping documentation.

Experience tracking production schedules, monitoring factory progress and managing cargo-ready dates.

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines.

Confident communicating with suppliers, freight forwarders, customers and internal teams.

Good Excel skills and experience using an ERP or order-management system.

A proactive, hands-on approach to resolving problems and preventing delays.

Experience with UK customs procedures, consumer goods or major retailers would be advantageous.

Interested?

If you have experience in international shipping, overseas supplier coordination and production tracking, we'd love to hear from you.
