Import, Export & Customs Coordinator

The Role
We are working with a leading business seeking an experienced Import, Export & Customs Coordinator to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a customs professional with a strong understanding of international freight movements, customs compliance and duty processing.
Working within a fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for managing customs clearance activities across multiple transport modes, ensuring shipments are processed accurately and efficiently while delivering a high level of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and submit customs declarations for import shipments across sea, air and road freight movements.
* Ensure all customs entries are completed accurately and in line with current HMRC regulations and compliance requirements.
* Manage duty and VAT payments, including processing through deferment and cash duty accounts.
* Handle customs-related documentation and maintain accurate shipment records.
* Raise invoices for freight forwarding and customs clearance services.
* Investigate and resolve customer invoice queries in a timely and professional manner.
* Manage supplier and purchase invoice discrepancies, ensuring prompt resolution.
* Support customers with duty and tax-related enquiries, providing clear guidance and solutions.
* Monitor and administer duty accounts, including both cash and deferment facilities.
* Coordinate customs requirements for courier shipments and ensure smooth end-to-end processing.
* Liaise with customers, carriers, customs authorities and internal teams to ensure the efficient movement of goods internationally.
About You
* Previous experience within customs clearance, freight forwarding or international logistics.
* Proven knowledge of import customs procedures across air, sea and road freight.
* Experience managing duty and VAT payments, including deferment accounts.
* Strong understanding of customs regulations and import/export compliance.
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced logistics environment.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to resolve queries and build effective working relationships.
