Job Summary:
Our client is looking for an excellent candidate who has both Electrical and Mechanical skills and have reached a level of competence which enables them to maintain mechanical and electrical systems, standby generator plant, basic refrigeration equipment, buildings and building components and emergency lift care.
Duties:
1. The post holder will be required to carry out the duties of the Team Leader as necessary and directly supervise other shift technicians on duty checking and evaluating their work etc.
2. To work in accordance with health and safety regulations, guidelines and safety polices.
3. Test, diagnose and repair faults on engineering and/or electrical and plumbing installations.
4. Undertake fault-finding on all critical systems and equipment.
5. Undertake general maintenance and installation work on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment.
6. To be prepared to work in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment.
7. Review and retrieve technical information in the department’s archives (hard and electronic copies), collate and copy as required for use by others.
8. Ability to open, view and plot engineering drawings using AutoCAD with training.
9. Actively participate in the operation of working within the scheme including completion of all paperwork/IT required by the scheme. (Including completion of all job dockets, risk assessments and daily worksheets.
10. Work overtime to carry out emergency repairs as required by management.
11. To liaise with the clients maintenance management team regarding services, plant and equipment failures.
12. Complete all report sheets and test certificates as necessary.
Electrical
1. Carry out specialist installations and repairs on, power, lighting, nurse call, fire alarms and intruder alarms, including any programming that may be required and passing on operational instructions to the department staff.
2. Activate power changeover plant and be able to safely isolate from generators or local network in the event of a malfunction.
3. Be able to work safely on standby electrical systems such as 400V generators and UPS systems.
4. Undertake inspection and commissioning tests for the installation and issues the appropriate completion certificates.
5. Design and carry out any electrical installation work if required.
Mechanical
1. To be conversant with domestic hot water, mains cold water, plumbing, high temperature hot water heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and steam heating systems.
2. To be fully conversant with all types of pumps, circulation systems, belt drives, pulleys and direct drive systems.
3. To work on, diagnose faults and repair medical oil free and reciprocating control air compressors, and vacuum plant.
4. To carry out specialist repairs on larger items of plant such as high pressure industrial steam boilers and chiller plant, autoclaves, air conditioning and microprocessor controlled equipment.
Decontamination
1. Working with the Health Technical Team you may be required to test and maintain the Trust’s Sterilisers, Washer Disinfectors and associated equipment including RO water plant together and clean steam generators. This will include working on both mechanical and electrical systems, control processors, data loggers, thermal couple recorders and able to calibrate temperature and pressure gauges
