Responsibilities and duties of the Shift Team Leader role

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will:

Lead and coordinate the activities of the shift operations team to ensure safe and efficient plant performance
Take delegated responsibility for site operations outside of standard office hours
Act as Senior Authorised Person, issuing and cancelling safety documentation in line with site safety rules
Respond to and manage operational incidents and emergencies in accordance with the site emergency plan
Ensure the facility operates in full compliance with environmental permits, planning conditions and statutory requirements
Monitor plant performance and take proactive steps to optimise availability, reliability and efficiency
Oversee waste acceptance to ensure only compliant materials are processed
Maintain accurate shift logs, operational reports and incident documentation
Deliver structured and effective shift handovers
Support the development, coaching and performance management of shift personnel
Promote a strong safety culture and high standards of housekeeping across the site
Provide shift cover where required to maintain operational continuity

Professional qualifications

Extensive operational experience within a power generation environment such as Energy from Waste, CCGT, biomass, coal or oil-fired plant, or relevant experience as a Royal Navy Marine Engineer
Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, environmental compliance and safe systems of work
Experience operating under formal safety rules and permit to work systems
Level 3 qualification in relevant subject such as operations or engineering.
Happy to work a shift pattern that includes day and night shifts.
