Shift Leader - City of London - FM Service Provider - £66,800 per annum

A leading facilities management service provider is seeking an experienced Shift Leader to oversee a site-based engineering team within a large, modern commercial office building in the City of London.

Working in a high-specification, business-critical environment, you will be responsible for supporting and leading the engineering team to ensure the safe and effective operation of all building services. The role will remain predominantly hands-on, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems, while also overseeing day-to-day coordination, reporting and communication with clients, contractors and management. The successful candidate must be HVAP qualified, with strong electrical technical knowledge and proven experience within commercial building services. You will be confident leading engineers, maintaining safe systems of work and ensuring high standards of service delivery. Strong communication skills and a proactive, team-focused approach are essential.

7 -7, Continental, Day & Nights

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of technical services across the site, managing shift engineers and specialist contractors
Supervise and support the on-site engineering team, ensuring an efficient and customer-focused service
Act as HV Authorised Person (HVAP), ensuring the safe operation and compliance of high-voltage systems
Manage PPM and reactive maintenance, ensuring works are completed correctly and within agreed timescales
Ensure all statutory, technical and health & safety compliance requirements are maintained
Operate and enforce Safe Systems of Work, including Permit to Work (PTW), RAMS and isolation procedures
Maintain accurate maintenance, compliance and operational records
Lead the investigation and reporting of operational incidents and technical issues
Ensure engineers and contractors are suitably trained, equipped and working safely
Conduct and contribute to monthly technical, compliance and health & safety reviews
Build strong working relationships with the client, contractors, building occupants and wider management team
Provide technical guidance and leadership to the engineering team during day-to-day operations and critical incidentsRequirements

Fully electrically or mechanically qualified – City & Guilds / HNC / HND or equivalent
HVAP qualification – essential
Strong electrical or mechanical technical background
Previous experience in a Shift Leader, Lead Engineer or similar supervisory role
Proven experience within commercial building maintenance / building services
Strong leadership and team management skills
Good knowledge of health & safety, statutory compliance and Safe Systems of Work
Experience with Permit to Work (PTW), RAMS and HV systems
Strong client-facing and communication skills
