Astute's Nuclear Team is partnering with a UK construction and workplace solutions with a strong commitment to health & safety to recruit a SHEQ Manager for its Bristol-based operations with regular UK travel.

The strategically important SHEQ Manager role comes with a salary of £60,000 - £80,000 plus car, alongside a Monday-to-Friday working pattern.

Responsibilities and duties of the SHEQ Manager role

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will:

Develop and deliver the company's SHEQ strategy, objectives and annual improvement plan.

Act as the senior competent adviser to the Managing Director, Board and operational leadership team on SHEQ risk, compliance and performance.

Lead, coach and coordinate SHEQ advisers and representatives across multiple live construction projects.

Maintain a visible presence across projects, regularly visiting sites and working closely with project and site teams.

Ensure construction sites operate safely and comply with relevant UK legislation, including CDM 2015.

Review RAMS, permits, critical controls and other health and safety arrangements.

Lead or oversee investigations into incidents, near misses and high-potential events.

Manage compliance audits, inspections, non-conformances, defects, corrective actions and continual improvement.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

Substantial SHEQ experience within the construction sector, supporting multiple live projects and significant operational risk.

Strong knowledge of UK construction health and safety legislation and practical application of CDM duties.

Demonstrable experience in compliance auditing, incident investigation, non-conformance management, root-cause analysis and corrective action.

Working knowledge of integrated management systems and ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel frequently across the UK, including overnight stays.
