Description:

Hyreus is currently recruiting an experienced SHEQ Manager for an exciting opportunity based in Glasgow, working with an established contractor operating across the highways and infrastructure sectors.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for supporting and developing the company’s Safety, Health, Environment and Quality standards across projects and operational activities. Working closely with project, site and senior management teams, you will provide professional SHEQ guidance, ensure compliance and promote a strong culture of safety, environmental responsibility and quality.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SHEQ or QESH professional looking to take on a key role within a growing highways and infrastructure environment.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage SHEQ activities across highways and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards and company procedures.

*

Develop, implement and maintain SHEQ policies, procedures, management systems and improvement plans.

*

Conduct site inspections, audits, risk assessments and compliance reviews, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

*

Provide guidance on RAMS, safe systems of work, environmental controls and quality requirements.

*

Monitor project SHEQ performance, prepare reports and provide regular updates and recommendations to senior management.

*

Support incident, accident and near-miss investigations, ensuring appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented.

*

Promote a positive SHEQ culture through training, toolbox talks, briefings and engagement with site and operational teams.

*

Ensure environmental requirements are managed effectively, including waste, pollution prevention and sustainability initiatives.

*

Manage quality assurance processes, inspections, documentation and non-conformance procedures.

*

Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and other stakeholders on SHEQ matters.

*

Keep up to date with changes in legislation, industry standards and best practice, ensuring these are reflected within company procedures.

Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business and project teams.

The Ideal Candidate

*

Proven experience as a SHEQ Manager, QESH Manager, HSEQ Manager or similar role within highways, civil engineering, infrastructure or construction.

*

Strong knowledge of UK health and safety, environmental and quality legislation and management systems.

*

Experience working across highways or infrastructure projects is highly desirable.

*

NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent H&S qualification, with environmental and quality qualifications advantageous.

*

Strong understanding of ISO management systems, particularly ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

*

Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.

*

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence site teams and senior management.

*

Strong organisational and analytical skills with a proactive approach to identifying and managing risks.

*

Ability to work independently while supporting multiple projects and operational teams
