Job Title: SHEQ Advisor

Role Overview

The SHEQ Advisor will assist the business and the SHEQ Manager in ensuring safe project delivery, mitigating health risks, protecting the environment, and maintaining service quality.

Key Responsibilities

Business Support:

Promote a positive culture and continuous improvement alongside the SHEQ Manager and Directors.
Develop and implement SHEQ performance initiatives.
Ensure compliance with ISO standards by supporting business processes and procedures.
Maintain supplier and sub-contractor approval lists and uphold accreditations.
Assist in developing SHEQ software for better compliance and user experience.
Conduct internal audits in line with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001.
Project Support:

Assist the project team by:

Understanding and applying CDM Regulations.
Acting as Principal Designer or managing the process where appropriate.
Preparing construction phase plans and environmental management plans.
Completing risk assessments and method statements.
Investigating incidents to determine root causes and corrective actions.
Conducting site audits, raising actions, and tracking evidence to closure.
Ensuring tools and equipment are inspected and calibrated per regulatory requirements.

Person Specification

Essential:

Knowledge of legislative requirements and best practices (CDM regulations, working at height, electricity at work).
Construction industry experience, preferably in the utilities sector.
NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent.
TechIOSH membership.
Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Effective problem-solving and creative thinking abilities.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport.
Professional presentation and demeanour.
Self-motivated, proactive, and goal-oriented.
Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Team player mentality.
Clean UK driving licence.
Desirable:

Advanced Excel skills for complex report generation.
Critical thinking skills to drive continuous improvement
