Job Description Role: Forming operator
Primary Duties:
Set and operate brake press machines, maintain tooling.
Strategy

Workload Planning
The operator should follow the provided work planning schedule passed on from cell leader and also highlight any potential ways to save time such as grouping of similar types of forming to save on tool changes and communicate these to the cell leader for approval. Cell members should maintain an accurate log of operation time bookings onto works orders and material bookings, so that all work can be efficiently tracked through the workshop and accurate levels of stock monitored.
Employee/skill progression. The cell member shall identify any areas they feel they would like to receive further training in to assist in their day to day operations and or new skills they wish to learn and acquire and pass these suggestions onto their cell leader for discussion/planning.
Process Improvement/Waste reduction. The cell operator shall actively seek to highlight to the Cell Leader potential ways to reduce waste such as adjustments to procedures to minimize the risk of re-work.
Workplace safety. The cell operator shall use all provided safety equipment when handling potentially dangerous materials and work in a safe manner as to not pose a risk of injury to themselves or others. The operator shall highlight and bring to the attention of the cell leader any current or potential safety issues that they face as soon as possible so that they may be dealt with swiftly by the cell leader and management. Whilst operating the forked lift truck with deliveries and material moving the Cell member shall maintain vigilance so as not to pose a risk to themselves, others and surroundings.
Environmental / Best practice. The cell operator should dispose of any hazardous substances/materials used in the correct controlled manner. Any hazardous items should be reported to the cell leader.
Plant Maintenance / housekeeping. The cell operator shall maintain a clean and safe working area at all times, removing any rubbish as soon as possible and disposing of items in the correct location. The cell operator shall follow a pre-determined maintenance schedule to maintain their respective machines to the best possible standard and reporting any issues with said machine to the cell leader.

• Interpret drawing for forming requirements and tool selection/method of forming
